Collegiate Check-up
Ten was the magic number.
Three area athletes — Dylan Cope, Hannah Moore and Tim Lehman — picked up 10th-place finishes on the track Saturday competing at the Indiana Little State Championships at Indiana Wesleyan.
Cope (Jay County – 2013) continued his record-breaking freshman season for the Indiana University East men.
He broke the school record in the 1,500 meter run for the third time this season, placing 10th in 4 minutes, 11.86 seconds.
He had set the mark of 4:16.69 just a week earlier at the Anderson Outdoor Invitational.
Moore (South Adams – 2012) turned in her 10th place finish competing in the 5,000 run for the Huntington University women. She posted a time of 19:23.2.
Lehman, Moore’s former classmate at SAHS, ran for the Goshen College men in the 400 dash.
He placed second in his heat and 10th overall in 50.99.
Katie Snyder (Jay County – 2013) was the only local graduate to compete in a pair of events Saturday.
She finished 14th for the host Wildcats in 27.43 seconds in the 200 dash and was also 16th in 13.13 in the 100 dash.
Alli Beitler (South Adams – 2010) ran for the Goshen College women’s team and placed 22nd in the 1,500 run with a time of 21:11.2.
Eme Miller
Jay County – 2012
Helped the Defiance College women’s track team to a fourth-place finish out of 19 squads competing at the All-Ohio Division III Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University.
Miller ran to a sixth-place finish for the Yellow Jackets in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
She missed a top-five finish by just three tenths of a second in 11 minutes, 34.32 seconds.[[In-content Ad]]
