DELPHOS, Ohio - One solid inning at bat was all the Indians needed Tuesday.
Fort Recovery High School's softball team scored all of its runs in the fifth inning, knocking off the host Jefferson Wildcats 3-1.
Beth May and Kinsey Wenning combined to hold down the Jefferson offense, with May giving up one run on four hits and a walk in five innings. Wenning allowed a hit and a walk in two scoreless frames of relief to preserve the win.
The Wildcats scored their only run in the second inning and held the lead until Fort Recovery (4-8) did its damage in the fifth. May helped her own cause, finished with two hits and driving in a pair of runs.
Joanna Snyder tripled and scored a run, and Ashley Grube and Heather Schmackers each scored once. Carla Guggenbiller doubled, and Grube and Val Fortkamp also had hits.
