Tigers defeat Tribe

VERSAILLES, Ohio - The Indians grabbed the early lead. But they are still waiting for the first confernce victory in two seasons.
The Fort Recovery High School softball team gave up four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning Thursday on the way to a 6-5, eight-inning loss to Midwest Athletic Conference rival Versailles Tigers.
The Tribe (4-3, 0-1 MAC), which lost all of its league games last year, gave up the game-winning run with two outs in the eighth. Kinsey Wenning took the loss, allowing six runs - four earned - on 11 hits and one walk.
Joanna Snyder led the offense for Fort Recovery, which scored three times in the second inning and led 5-1 before the Tigers got their bats going in the fifth. She had two hits, including a double, and two runs.
Josie Guggenbiller doubled and drove in three runs. Shelby Brunswick and Andi Sutter each added a hit and a run.
Junior varsity
Versailles scored eight times in the firist inning and defeated the Indians 15-4 in five innings.
Beca Tobe took the loss, giving up eight runs - even earned - on 12 walks and seven hits.
Taylor Guggenbiller went 2-for-3 with a run. Nicole Hart scored twice, and Marissa Brunswick added a pair of RBIs.[[In-content Ad]]
