Tobe leads Fort JV
JCHS/FRHS JV softball
The Fort Recovery High School junior varsity softball team picked up its third win of the season Friday, jumping out to a big early lead on the way to a 16-6, five-inning victory over the host Jay County Patriots.
The Indians took control with 10 runs in the top of the first inning, and JCHS was never able to close the gap to fewer than seven runs.
Becca Tobe earned the victory for FRHS (3-14) as she struck out three batters in five innings. She gave up six runs - three earned - and allowed five walks.
Tobe also led the offense, going 3-for-4 with a double and three runs. Melissa Lochtefeld also had three hits to go along with two runs, and Sierra Loya doubled twice and scored twice. Kendra Stammen and Brittany Sudhoff chipped in two hits and two runs apiece.
Abbey Vance singled, scored twice and drove in a run for the Patriots, and Cortney Myers had two hits and two RBIs. Latrisha McEwen also scored two runs.
Vance took the losing, giving up 16 runs - one earned - in five innings.[[In-content Ad]]
