Tobe's six RBIs pace Tribe in first victory (03/30/05)
FRHS baseball
VAN WERT, Ohio — After suffering a one-run loss in their opener a night earlier, the Indians didn’t even give the opposition a chance Tuesday.
The Fort Recovery baseball team scored six times in the first inning and eight in the second en route to a 17-1 destruction of the Lincolnview Lancers. It had lost 4-3 Monday against Celina.
Freshman Clint Tobe had a huge game for the Tribe, reaching base after each of his four plate appearances in the five-inning contest. He was 2-for-2 with a pair of walks, finishing with six RBIs. He also scored one run.
Tobe was also the winning pitcher, giving up just one run on four hits as he went the distance. He added a pair of strikeouts.
Matt Hein was also perfect on the day as he went 2-for-2 with a walk, three runs and two RBIs. Chris Galdeen singled, scored twice and drove in two runs.
Tony Diller scored three runs, and Todd Post, Dusty Guggenbiller and Dusty Tobe each had two.
The Tribe’s junior varsity team came out on the opposite end of a five-inning contest Tuesday, falling 11-0 to the Crestview Knights.
The Indians were limited to just a pair of singles, one by Kevin Schoenherr and one by David Schmitt.
Schoenherr took the loss despite not allowing an earned run. He was hurt on the mound by nine errors as the 11 runs came on just three hits. He struck out four batters and walked three in four innings.[[In-content Ad]]
