CONVOY, Ohio - A two-win day at Saturday's Crestview Invitational has the Indians within a game of .500.
Fort Recovery High School's volleyball team moved to 8-9 on the year with wins of 25-16, 25-19 over Old Fort and 25-20, 25-20 over the host Knights. The only loss of the day for the Tribe came against Division IV No. 8 Norwalk St. Paul by a 25-21, 25-20 final.
Kinsey Wenning had a big day as she racked up 30 kills, including 15 against Crestview. She had seven digs in the win over Old Fort, and three blocks against the Knights.
Beth May scored eight points against Crestview, and she, Joanna Snyder, Nicole Pottkotter and Rachel Tobe each came up with six digs. Kelsey Wuebker had 14 assists, and Anne Koesters and Sarah Braun matched Wenning with three blocks apiece.
Pottkotter paced the Tribe against Old Fort with 12 assists and 10 points. Koesters scored eight points and notched three blocks.
In the loss to St. Paul, Snyder totaled eight digs, Braun had eight blocks and Emily May scored eight points. Kelsey Wuebker put up seven assists.
Junior varsity
FORT RECOVERY - The Indians dropped both matches Saturday, falling 5-25, 28-26, 25-23 to the Anna Rockets and 25-20, 25-18 against the Coldwater Cavaliers.
Josie Guggenbiller and Chelsey Leuthold each had huge matches against Anna.
Guggenbiller totaled 13 points and 13 assists, and Leuthold racked up 14 points, 10 digs and two kills.
Holly Brunswick added six blocks and three kills, and Alyssa Brackman had 13 digs.
Carly Staugler had seven points and four assists to lead the Indians (9-4) against Coldwater. Brackman came up with 14 digs, Leuthold had six kills and Brunswick and Olivia Thien each notched three blocks.
Middle school
FORT RECOVERY - The seventh grade volleyball team rolled to a 25-21, 25-14 win over Mississinawa Valley, and the eighth graders added a 25-23, 25-17 victory. Both teams are now 7-4.
Chelsea Pottkotter led the seventh graders with 16 points, six of which came on aces. Janelle Schwieterman added four points.
Ericka Lennartz had 10 points, including four aces, for the eighth grade team. Kylie Kahlig had seven points and two kills.[[In-content Ad]]
