FRHS cross country
COLDWATER, Ohio - The Tribe finished smack in the middle of the MAC pack.
Fort Recovery High School's girls cross country team placed fourth out of seven teams Thursday in the Midwest Athletic Conference meet hosted by Coldwater. The Indians scored 131 points to finish behind champion Minster (21), Versailles (53) and the host Cavaliers (69)
The FRHS boys were eight out of 10 teams with 251, finishing ahead of Parkway (265) and St. John's (266). New Bremen edged Minster for the title 56-57.
Tina Roessner just missed a top-10 finish for the Indians, finishing three tenths of a second behind Kristen Schulte of Versailles. She finished in 20-minutes, 20 seconds.
Alexis Sutter was the No. 2 runner for the Indians, finishing 36th in 22:03. Casey Backs was 41st in 22:17 ahead of Abby Huelskamp (47th - 22:27) and Amber Heitkamp (53rd - 22:45).
Ryan Heitkamp was the only runner in the top 60 for Fort Recovery's boys, finishing 21st at 18:02. Caleb Heitkamp took 66th in 19:55 followed by Mathias Koester (73rd - 20:16), Zach Guggenbiller (85th - 21:34) and Adam Pohl (88th - 21:47).
Middle school
The Fort Recovery boys placed three runners in the top four en route to winning the MAC title. The girls team was also impressive, finishing second out of six teams.
Nathan Fullenkamp led the Indian boys to the title, finishing as the conference runner-up in 11:14. Josh Pohl was two seconds behind in third place, and Derek Sutter finished fourth in 11:47.
Marshall Hull was 17th in 12:49, and Calvin Kaiser finished in 12:50 for 18th place.
Abby May gave the FRMS girls their lone top-10 finish in 12:48. Jessica Vogel finished 13th in 13:34, Elle Sutter was 14th at 13:37 and Samantha Tobe placed 19th in 14:03. Emily Kahlig finished in 16:09 for 49th place.[[In-content Ad]]
