Tribe blasts Cards
FRHS volleyball
FORT RECOVERY - The momentum kept rolling for the Fort Recovery High School volleyball team Thursday.
The Indians, coming off of a championship at the St. Marys Invitational, rolled to their first Midwest Athletic Conference victory of the season. They improved to 5-1 overall by beating the New Bremen Cardinals 25-8, 25-15, 25-20.
Nicole Pottkotter set the pace for the Tribe, which suffered its lone loss of the year to MAC rival St. Henry. She had team highs of 17 points, 14 assists and nine kills.
Emily May added 19 digs and six points, and Holly Brunswick had nine kills and three blocks. Alyssa Brackman came up with nine digs, and Carly Staugler notched nine assists.
Junior varsity
The Indians won the opening game, but slipped to 2-3 on the year with a 21-25, 25-22, 25-22 loss to New Bremen.
Abby Backs led Fort Recovery with 16 digs and eight points, Ericka Lennartz totaled 12 kills and Kayla Kahlig had 16 assists. Nichole Kaiser added seven digs and two blocks, and Holly Thien had four kills and two blocks.
Freshman
Fort Recovery suffered its first loss of the season, falling 25-10, 25-11 to the St. Henry Redskins.
Kelsey Fiely notched four digs and two kills to lead the Tribe (3-1). Emily Link had two digs and two assists, and Amy Link finished with four points.[[In-content Ad]]
