ANSONIA - It took the Fort Recovery High School girls basketball team just nine minutes to score its first 31 points. The host Tigers failed to score that many in the entire game.
The Indians racked up 26 first-quarter points and had a 32-point lead at the half as they clobbered Ansonia 69-29 Saturday.
Fort Recovery's first quarter domination included a run of 13 consecutive points. It added another 25 points in the second quarter, and then limited the Tigers (7-7) to just 17 percent shooting in the second half.
Joanna Snyder finished with 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists for the Indians (11-3) as all 13 players saw at least seven minutes of action. Kendra Brunswick joined her in double figures with 13 points.
Anne Koesters had eight rebounds, and Nicole Pottkotter and Chelsea Luethold each grabbed six. The Indians finished with a 48-27 rebounding advantage.
Ashlyn Hemmelgarn led the Tigers, who shot 24 percent for the game, with 11 points and nine rebounds. Sara Mayo was next with five points.

Kylie Kahlig totaled 15 points and six rebounds for Fort Recovery, which led 12-0 at the close of the first quarter and outscored the Tigers 22-6 in the third. Kelly Nietfeld followed with 11 points and seven boards.
