Tribe defeats Celina

FORT RECOVERY - The Indians closed the regular season on a high note.
Using a 14-point run to close the third quarter, the Fort Recovery High School girls basketball team pulled away for a 59-46 win Saturday over the Celina Bulldogs.
The Tribe (14-5), which will play either Fairview or Lima Central Catholic in the first of two Division IV girls basketball sectional championship games Saturday at Van Wert at 6:15 p.m., has won at least 14 games in seven straight seasons.
Fort Recovery trailed 32-30 in the third quarter against Celina before a Kelly Nietfeld jumper ignited and 14-0 run spanning just 2:30.

Kendra Brunswick scored six points during the rally, including the Indians' lone 3-pointer of the game, as they took a 44-32 advantage before both teams went scoreless for the final 2:04 of the period.
The Bulldogs ended a five-minute scoring drought when Gina Everman scored the first basket of the fourth quarter, but they never got closer than six points the rest of the way.
Chelsea Leuthold turned in a big day for the Tribe at the foul line, shooting 11-of-14 on the way to a 21-point, 11-rebound performance. She also had four steals.
Holly Brunswick added 11 points, and Kendra Brunswick and Nietfeld each scored eight. Nicole Pottkotter had nine rebounds, five steals, three assists and two blocks.
Cenzie Yoder shot 6-of-7 from the field and totaled 16 points, even rebounds, six assists, four steals and a block for Celina. Abbey Welker added 11 points.
Junior varsity
Kylie Kahlig paced the Tribe as it rallied for a 49-46 victory over Celina.
Kahlig scored 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting for Fort Recovery (17-2), which trailed 43-38 at the close of the third quarter. Chelsea Pottkotter and Janelle Schwieterman each had eight points.
Kylee Bader's 16 points led the Bulldogs. Danielle Bihnn followed with 11 points.[[In-content Ad]]
