Tribe falls to Flyers (04/25/07)
FRHS baseball/softball
FORT RECOVERY and MARIA STEIN, Ohio - Fort Recovery's baseball and softball teams each scored first. But neither could keep control Tuesday as they lost to the Marion Local Flyers.
The Tribe baseball team had a 1-0 lead on the road after one inning, but never scored again in a 4-1 defeat.
The softball squad was up 2-0 at home, but fell 14-5 thanks in part to allowing seven sixth-inning runs.
Bobby Rammel suffered the baseball loss, giving up three runs - one earned - on four hits in 32/3 innings. The Indians are 2-6 over their last eight games after opening 5-0, and 1-4 in the Midwest Athletic Conference.
Rammel also had one of Fort Recovery's four hits and scored the only run, and Toby Metzger finished with a single and an RBI.
Sandra Sudhoff had two hits and two runs to lead the offense for the softball team.
Val Fortkamp also had two hits, and Lori Osterholt drove in a pair of runs.
The loss went to Beth May, who gave up 10 runs on 10 hits and four walks in three innings of relief. Fort Recovery is now 3-7 overall and 0-3 in the MAC.
Junior varsity softball
MARIA STEIN - The Indians dropped to 1-8 with a 9-4 loss to Marion Local.
Kelly Sudhoff had two RBIs and a run in the defeat, and Carly Staugler singled and scored a run. Hillary Staugler and Lorraine Shier added one run apiece.
