Tribe falls to Jets (04/12/05)

FRHS baseball

Five errors and a six-run sixth inning by the home team finished off the Tribe Monday night. The Fort Recovery baseball team was up 6-5 late in the game, but gave up the big inning to the Franklin Monroe Jets and fell 11-6.

Both teams scored three times in the third inning and were tied again 5-5 after the fifth. The Indians (6-4) posted a run in the top of the sixth only to have Franklin Monroe take control in the bottom of the frame.

Dan Heitkamp took the loss, but all five of the runs he allowed in his two innings were unearned. Keith Bruns gave up a sixth unearned run, and Clint Tobe allowed five earned runs in 32/3 innings.

Freshman lead-off hitter Bobby Rammel paced the offense, going 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Steve Trobridge was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Tobe added a two-run double.

Fort Recovery’s junior varsity team played at home against Franklin Monroe and scored a 5-3 victory.

Scott Hein was a perfect 3-for-3 for the Tribe (1-4), which tied the game with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning and scored twice in the sixth to take the win. He scored three times and had a stolen base.

Kenton Sudhoff doubled and drove in two runs.

Kevin Schoenherr was the winning pitcher for the Indians as he struck out 15 batters. He gave up three runs — one earned — on seven hits and two walks.[[In-content Ad]]
