Tribe girls 5th at Coldwater (10/09/07)
FRHS cross country
COLDWATER, Ohio - Fort Recovery High School's girls cross country team turned in an impressive fifth-place finish Thursday at the 21-team Coldwater Lions Invitational.
The Tribe scored 197 points to finish one ahead of Van Wert and two in front of Lincolnview. State power Minster won the meet with 58 points, followed by Versailles (86), Fort Loramie (87) and the host Cavaliers (110).
Fort Recovery's boys were 21st out of 23 teams with 581 points. Minster won with 72 points, and New Bremen was second at 136.
Mindy Vogel turned in a top-10 finish for the Indian girls, placing eighth in 20-minutes, 25 seconds. Tina Roessner was next for the Tribe in 22nd place with her time of 21:03.
Abby Huelskamp finished 55th in 22:29, followed by Amber Heitkamp in 65th at 22:48 and Alexis Sutter in 68th in 22:55.
Ryan Heitkamp turned in a time of 19:14 for 71st place to lead the FRHS boys. Alan Vogel followed in 102nd at 19:53.
Joining them were Caleb Heitkamp (136th - 20:45), Aaron Will (225th - 23:14) and Zach Guggenbiller (233rd - 23:53).
Also running for the Tribe girls were Casey Backs (79th - 23:15) and Abby Sudhoff (123rd - 24:32).
Middle school
The Fort Recovery boys team was eighth out of 16 teams with 175 points, while the girls placed ninth out of 13 with a score of 216.
Jackson Center won the boys competition with 94 points, 10 fewer than runner-up Fort Loramie. Versailles edged Minster for the top spot in the girls competition, 39-43.
Nathan Fullenkamp had the top finish for the Indians, taking ninth in the boys race at 12:10. Mathias Koester was 24th in 12:47, and following him were Derek Rammel (49th - 13:28), Adam Pohl (54th - 13:31) and Calvin Kaiser (63rd - 13:59).
Nicole Heitkamp was the only Tribe girl to crack to top 30 as she placed 28th in 14:06, and Christen Wendel was 36th in 14:14. Joining them were Samantha Tobe (43rd - 14:31), Mariah Koester (76th - 15:22) and Brenda Link (135th - 18:19).[[In-content Ad]]
