Tribe girls finish 4th in MAC (10/14/05)

COLDWATER, Ohio — The Fort Recovery girls cross country team continues to be consistent.
The Indians finished fourth at the Midwest Athletic Conference meet at Coldwater, with two state-ranked teams and the host Cavaliers taking the top three spots.
Fort Recovery scored 109 points to finish well ahead of fifth-place Marion Local (154) at the nine-team event.
Defending Division III state champion and No. 1 Minster (24) was first, fifth-ranked Versailles (57) took second and Coldwater (94) was third.
The Tribe boys were seventh in their eight-team field finishing just ahead of Delphos St. John’s 215-219. No. 4 Coldwater was first with 30 points.
Mindy Vogel and Tina Roessner led the Indian girls, giving them a pair of runners in the top 15. Vogel, a sophomore, was 13th overall in 20-minutes, 25 seconds, and Roessner, a freshman, finished two spots behind her with a time of 20:29.
Sandra Sudhoff was 22nd, Sam Bihn took 29th and Lindsay Sudhoff was 42nd.
Two Fort Recovery boys finished in the top 50 with Mitch Fullenkamp 27th in 18:19. Jim Roessner placed 44th with a time of 19:06.
Matt Heinrichs was 71st, Tyler Huelskamp finished 82nd and Joel Bey was 92nd.
In the junior high races Fort Recovery’s girls were fifth out of five teams with 123 points while the boys did not have enough runners to post a team score. Minster won the junior high girls title with 19 points, and New Knoxville was first among the boys with 26.
Ryan Heitkamp was the top Indian runner as he finished 19th in the boys race with a time of 12:24. Abby Huelskamp was 33rd to lead the girls in 13:57.
Alexis Sutter was next for the girls team in 42nd place. Claire Wendel was 47th, Kelly Wendel took 56th and Alison Tobe was 60th.
Caleb Heitkamp finished 24th for the boys, and Alan Vogel was 32nd.[[In-content Ad]]
