Tribe loses nail-biter

MARIA STEIN, Ohio - The game was so close that just one mistake was able to turn the tide. Unfortunately for the Indians, they made the miscue.
Fort Recovery High School's softball team allowed the only run on a wild pitch as it fell 1-0 to the host Marion Local Flyers.
The Indians (10-10, 3-3 Midwest Athletic Conference) totaled five hits, including two each by Carly Staugler and Kendra Brunswick, but could not push home a run. Marion Local pushed the only run of the game on the wild pitch in the third inning.
Andi Sutter, who had the only other hit for the Indians, took the loss despite striking out 10 Flyers. She gave up the one run on five hits.
Marion Local improved to 10-8 overall and 3-1 in the MAC with the win.
Junior varsity
FORT RECOVERY - The Marion Local Flyers scored nine times in the fourth inning Monday, blowing open the game on the way to handing the Fort Recovery junior varsity softball team a 15-1 defeat.
Becca Tobe took the loss, giving up 15 runs - seven earned - on 10 hits and seven walks. She struck out seven batters.
Tobe also finished 2-for-3 with a double and scored the only run for the Indians (3-15). Brittany Sudhoff went 2-for-2, and Sierra Loya had a double and an RBI.[[In-content Ad]]
