Tribe picks up 3rd win (09/20/2008)

ROCKFORD, Ohio - Powered by a big second quarter and a strong offensive performance, Fort Recovery rolled to a 26-12 victory over the Parkway Panthers Friday night.
The Indians racked up 264 yards passing and another 75 yards on the ground, effectively using the pass to set up four rushing touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Fort Recovery defense stayed stingy, giving up just 61 yards passing and 146 rushing.
Greg Kahlig completed 19-of-34 passes, but was picked off three times.
Kahlig and Matt Braun led the Indian ground attack, with Kahlig rushing for a total of 30 yards on six carries and Braun carrying the ball 16 times for a net 29 yards.
Thien scored two rushing touchdowns, and Kahlig and Braun each chalked up a rushing touchdown.
Parkway scored first when Kris Hughes returned the opening kick-off for 90 yards and a TD.
The Indians responded with a drive late in the first quarter. A 16-yard passing play from Kahlig to Michael Gaerke set up a 6-yard TD run by Braun with 2:27 left in the quarter.
Things really started to come together for the Tribe in the second quarter.
Kahlig hit Toby Metzger with a 17-yard pass to put the Indians on the 10-yard line, then ran it in himself on the next play from scrimmage for a 14-6 lead.
Thien then scored with 7:28 on the clock on a 1-yard run, and another solid Indian drive followed with Kahlig connecting on passes to Cody Fiely, Craig Tobe, Toby Metzger and Thien to get within the Parkway 10-yard line. Fort Recovery ran the ball from there, with Thien eventually punching in his second TD of the night.
The Indians took a 26-6 lead into halftime, and the teams were scoreless for the first 22 minutes of the second half. Parkway got its second TD with just 1:30 on the clock in the fourth on an 11-yard pass by Riley Bransteter to Taylor Feasel.
