Tribe shuts out 'Hawks
FRHS baseball
UNION CITY, Ohio - It was a good start to sectional week for the Indians.
Fort Recovery High School's baseball team blanked the host Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks 6-0 Monday. The Tribe will play Spencerville in the semifinal round of the Division IV sectional tournament at Minster Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
Greg Kahlig shut out Mississinawa Valley, striking out 13 batters as he picked up his first victory. He gave up just three hits and four walks.
Travis Hart had two hits in the victory, and Toby Metzger drove in two runs. Brady Kahlig, Ryan Schoen and Greg Kahlig each added one hit.
In other sectional semifinal action Saturday at Minster, Waynesfield-Goshen will take on New Knoxville at 1 p.m. The winner of that game will advance to play top-seeded Minster May 13 at 5 p.m.
The Fort Recovery/Spencerville winner will take on No. 2 seed New Bremen in sectional championship action May 13 at 7:30 p.m.
Fort Recovery (7-6), which has been to the district championship game in each of the last two seasons, does not play Spencerville during the regular season. It could end up facing New Bremen on back-to-back evenings as the Midwest Athletic Conference rivals are scheduled to play their regular-season game May 12.[[In-content Ad]]
