FRHS boys basketball

FORT RECOVERY - Both teams had their problems.

Fort Recovery gave up a huge defensive field goal percentage and got dominated on the glass. The Greenville Green Wave failed to take care of the ball and struggled from 3-point range.

But in the end, the Indians did what winning teams do. They hit their final six free throw Saturday as they defeated visiting Greenville 59-53.

In a game that was tied at halftime, and the Green Wave scored the opening bucket of the second half. But Fort Recovery scored the next eight points in a row to take the lead for good and then made its foul shots in the final minute to hold on for victory.

After falling behind a minute into the second half, the Indians got a boost from Bobby Rammel. The junior guard hit back-to-back 3-pointers off assists from Tony Diller and Toby Metzger.

On the next trip down the floor Rammel stole the ball from Dusty Elliott and passed forward to Metzger, who found Clint Tobe for another hoop to cap the 8-0 run in a matter of just 46 seconds.

The Tribe lead grew to as many as nine points before Greenville closed to within four late in the game. But Tobe, Diller and Rammel each hit a pair of free throws in the final 34 seconds to put the game away.

Diller led four players in double figures for the Indians, who at 9-5 have already won more games than they did in 2005-06. He hit all of his three field goals and dropped in eight free throws for 14 points.

Tobe and Greg Kahlig added 13 points apiece, and Rammel scored 11.
