FORT RECOVERY - Marion Local showed up to play two strong quarters Friday night.
Unfortunately for the visitors, it was a four-quarter game.
Fort Recovery lifted its season record to 8-5 and evened its Midwest Athletic Conference mark at 3-3 with a dominant win over the Flyers 63-47.
Greg Kahlig had the hot hand for the Indians as he hit 8-of-15 from the field, including 3-of-7 from 3-point range, for a game-high 23 points. He also posted the top rebounding total, finishing with eight.
Clint Tobe was close behind with 18 total points on 7-of-15 from the field and 3-of-7 from 3-point range.
Fort Recovery, which went 0-9 in the MAC a year ago before beating Marion Local in the opening round of the sectional tournament, hit 43.6 percent of its field goal tries. For the Flyers, some rough spots in the first and third quarters made all the difference.
While the two teams were evenly matched in scoring in the second quarter at 16 points apiece and again in the fourth quarter at 18, the Indians racked up an insurmountable 19-8 lead in the first quarter and added to it with a 10-5 advantage in the third.
Those quick starts at the opening buzzer and right after halftime keyed the win.
