Tribe spikers win 5th straight

FORT RECOVERY - The hot streak continued Tuesday for the Fort Recovery High School volleyball team with a 20-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-17 victory over the St. John's Blue Jays.
The Indians have won five consecutive matches to improve to 12-9 overall and 3-5 in the Midwest Athletic Conference. They play at Division IV No. 1 Marion Local Thursday.
Nicole Pottkotter had team highs of 23 assists, 16 kills, 14 points and six blocks against St. John's (8-11, 1-7 MAC). Alyssa Brackman added 14 digs and eight points.
Emily May totaled 21 digs, Holly Brunswick had 13 kills and Chelsey Leuthold totaled 10 kills.
In the junior varsity match Abby Backs had nine digs and eight points to lead the Tribe to a 25-21, 25-11 victory.
Kayla Kahlig totaled 16 assists for Fort Recovery (12-5), and Holly Thien finished with seven points and five digs. Ericka Lennartz had six kills, and Nichole Kaiser added five.
Freshman
Emily Link powered Fort Recovery to a 25-11, 25-16 victory over Greenville to push the Indians' record to 12-6.
Link had team highs in points (13), digs (11) and assists (five). Kelsey Fiely had seven points and three kills, Amy Link totaled nine digs and Chelsea Pottkotter added seven kills.
Middle school
The Tribe's seventh grade volleyball team won for the second straight night Tuesday 8-25, 25-17, 25-12 over the St. John's Blue Jays. The eighth graders lost 25-10, 24-26, 25-13.
Rachel Pugh led the seventh graders (5-10) with 13 points and six assists, and Haley Knapke added 10 points and six kills. Tori Lennartz had eight kills.
Sierra Pugh finished with five points, five kills and eight assists in the eighth grade match. Morgan Dues scored six points, Lexi Schmitz had three kills and a block and Ashley Homan notched three kills.[[In-content Ad]]
