Tribe takes opener

FORT RECOVERY - The games got progressively closer, but the Indians won them all.

Fort Recovery High School senior Nicole Pottkotter set the tone for the Tribe volleyball team as it defeated the Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks 25-7, 25-19, 25-23.

Pottkotter racked up 14 points for the Indians as she smacked eight aces. She also had team highs of 11 assists and seven blocks to go along with four kills.

Emily May added 22 digs, 11 points and four aces, and Carly Staugler had 10 assists. Holly Brunswick totaled five blocks, and Josie Guggenbiller and Lorraine Shier each had four kills.

Junior varsity

Kayla Kahlig served the Blackhawks off the court as she racked up 16 points to lead Fort Recovery to a 25-14, 25-20 victory.

Abby Backs recorded nine digs for the Indians, and Ericka Lennartz had four digs and two blocks. Kylie Kahlig had six kills, Holly Thien totaled four kills and Mikayla Westgerdes added three points.

Freshmen

NEW BREMEN, Ohio - The Indians stayed perfect with a 25-18, 25-10 win over the New Bremen Cardinals.

Emily Link led Fort Recovery (3-0) with 10 points and four assists.

Kelsey Fiely added eight points and four digs, and Heather Vaughn had nine points and two digs.

Chelsea Pottkotter finished with six kills and four assists, and Amy Link recorded six kills and two blocks.

Middle school

ST. HENRY, Ohio - Fort Recovery suffered a couple of losses as the eighth grade volleyball team lost 25-10, 25-7 to the St. Henry Redskins and the seventh grade squad fell 25-9, 25-11.

Ashley Homan finished with seven points and two kills to lead the eighth grade Indians (0-2). Lexie Schmitz had two kills and one block.

Makayla Grover had four points as the seventh graders slipped to 1-1. Cassidy Rammel and Haley Knapke each had two points.[[In-content Ad]]
