FRHS cross country

COLDWATER, Ohio - The Fort Recovery High School girls cross country team posted 234 points to place sixth in the 18-team field at Thursday's Coldwater Lions Club Invitational.

The Indians were 96 behind fifth-place Van Wert, and 31 in front of seventh-place Ansonia.

The Tribe boys placed 19th out of 23 teams with a score of 525. They finished ahead of Celina, Elida, Parkway and St. John's.

Minster finished first in both competitions.

Tina Roessner turned in the only top-30 finish for the Indians, edging Megan Fullenkamp of Fort Loramie for 22nd place in the girls race in 20-minute, 44 seconds. Sophomore Alexis Sutter was 40th in 21:22.

Joining them were Casey Backs (63rd - 22:04), Abby Huelskamp (69th - 22:11) and Nicole Heitkamp (94th - 22:51).

Ryan Heitkamp was the lone Fort Recovery boy to finish in the top 100 as he placed 45th in 18:17. Caleb Heitkamp was 110th in 19:43 followed by Mathias Koester (161st - 21:05), Adam Pohl (166th - 21:11) and Zach Guggenbiller (167th - 21:18).

Middle school

Fort Recovery's boys team finished behind only Jackson Center (53) with 94 points in a field of 18 teams. The Indian girls (174) placed fifth out of 16 teams behind Minster (23), Shawnee, Fort Loramie and Versailles.

Nathan Fullenkamp finished as the runner-up in the boys race in 11:27, and Josh Pohl was just three seconds behind him in fourth. Derek Sutter was 13th in 12:04 ahead of Marshall Hull (38th - 12:54) and Calvin Kaiser (41st - 12:56).

Abby May finished in 12:56 to finish sixth in the girls race. Samantha Tobe was 23rd in 13:44 along with Jessica Vogel (29th - 13:54), Elle Sutter (39th - 14:08) and Emily Kahlig (116th - 16:37).
