Two more file for assessor
Election filings
Six candidates filed on Friday to get their names on the ballot in this year's election, including two more Republicans vying for the position of Jay County assessor.
Republicans Diana Stults, 894 West 550 North, Bryant, and Debra Gaskill, 211 East 200 South, Portland, filed for the assessor position. Stults is currently first deputy assessor, and Gaskill also works in the county office and was formerly Wayne Township assessor before the duties of township assessors were transferred to the county.
So far three Republicans - Stults, Gaskill and Lesa Kirby, who filed Wednesday - are vying for the county assessor position, currently held by Terry LeMaster (R).
Also filing Friday was Ted Champ (D), 4904 South Ind. 1, Redkey, for the 1st District county council seat, which is being vacated by Gerald Kirby (D), who announced that he will not be seeking re-election.
Three officials in township government who filed Friday are seeking re-election, including: Greene Township advisory board member Robert Wayne Bailey (D), 1355 South 600 West, Portland; Pike Township advisory board member Arthur Harris (R), 89 East 650 South, Portland; and Wayne Township advisory board member Ruth Arnold (R), 159 East 200 South.[[In-content Ad]]
