Variance OK'd for video store (8/11/04)
A variance was approved Tuesday by members of the Portland Board of Zoning Appeals at the future site of a new Portland business.
The variance will allow the building scheduled to be constructed at 1451 N. Meridian St. to have a 15-foot setback from Lincoln Street instead of the required 20 feet.
Brian Gehrki, representing Gehrki Commercial Real Estate of Hot Springs, Ark., is working to open a Movie Gallery store on the lot, which is owned by Dennis and Kendra Gasparovic of Portland.
Gehrki told board members he is involved in about 12 store projects in Indiana, including one in Decatur. The businesses rent movies.
The planned 4,000-square-foot building will be constructed in the northeast corner of the lot with approximately 19 parking spaces on the west side of the building.
The variance was approved with a restriction that there will be no obstructions or improvements made between the building and the alley on the east side of the store.[[In-content Ad]]
