FRHS Football

FORT RECOVERY — The Indians took a licking Friday night, but the season will tell whether they can keep on ticking.

Minster made things miserable for Fort Recovery, using an overwhelming defense to keep the Indians scoreless while a solid offense racked up 42 points.

Jumping out to a 21-nothing lead in the first quarter, Minster didn’t look back. The shellacking saw Fort Recovery’s offense held to just 98 net yards, while Minster chalked up 271.

Ty Parks scored the first touchdown of the night for Minster with 10:51 on the clock in the first quarter on a 2-yard run. Brendon Whitford’s kick was good to make it 7-0.

Then, with 1:43 on the clock in the first, Jon Kaylor scored for Minster on a 15-yard pass from Scott Sherman. Whitford’s kick was again good, making it 14-0.

The final indignity of the first quarter came less than a minute later when Parks scored again on a 4-yard run. Again, Whitford’s kick was good.

Things looked a bit brighter from then out, but not much.

Minster scored in each of the remaining quarters.

Kaylor hit the end zone with 10:03 on the clock in the second quarter after a 13-yard pass from Sherman. Whitford’s kick expanded the lead to 28-0.

Then Parks scored for the third time of the night on a 3-yard run with 6:39 on the clock in the third quarter. Whitford’s good kick made it 35-0.

Finally, in the fourth, Brian Hoelscher put up Minster’s last touchdown of the evening on a 15-yard run. Whitford stayed perfect for the night, hitting the PAT kick to make the final 42-0.

Fort Recovery rushed for just 82 net yards on 36 attempts. Only one Indian pass was completed out of nine attempts, for a net gain of 16 yards. Two Fort Recovery passes were picked off by Minster and returned for a total of 63 yards.

Meanwhile, Minster completed six-of-ten passes for 101 yards and rushed for 170 yards on 40 carries.[[In-content Ad]]
