MINSTER, Ohio - Holly Stein had already qualified for the regional round in two events. Mindy Vogel matched that effort Saturday.
Vogel earned a pair of regional berths on the second day of competition at the Division III district tournament at Minster, and Tina Roessner also qualified as the Fort Recovery girls track team turned in a sixth-place finish.
The Indians scored 56.5 points, edging Coldwater (55.5) in the 17-team field. The host Wildcats won with 99 points, just ahead of New Bremen (95.5).
Fort Recovery's boys team placed 13th out of 14 teams with 12 points, finishing ahead of Upper Scioto Valley (four). St. Henry cruised to the title with 123.5 points , and Minster was second with 95.5.
Vogel had her best effort in the 800-meter run, the event in which she qualified for the state meet a year ago. The junior placed third with a time of 2-minutes, 24.95 seconds.
She also qualified for regional competition in the 1,600 run, taking fourth place at 5:36.50.
Roessner was the only other Indian to advance Saturday as she placed fourth in the 3,200 run in 12:31.34. She also scored points for the Indians with her sixth-place time of 5:49.76 in the 1,600 run.
The only Fort Recovery boy to score points Saturday was Michael Trobridge. He was 14th in the preliminary round of the 100 dash before surging to eighth in the semifinals and finishing seventh in the championship race at 11.77 seconds.
Already qualifying for the regional from the first day of competition Thursday were district discus and shot put champion Holly Stein, pole vault champion Matt Vagedes and Anne Koesters, who placed second in the discus.[[In-content Ad]]
