Volunteers are thanked
Letter to the Editor
To the editor:
The month of April is appreciation month for volunteers. For the past several years Community and Family Services has hosted an appreciation dinner for all of our volunteers. However, with the difficulties in our economy and the decline in donations, we will not be having our dinner this year.
I really want the community to know how important our volunteers are to this organization. Without the help from all our volunteers, the Helping Hand Food Pantry could not operate.
Most rural area pantries are open one or two days a week and for only a few hours each day. We are open to the public five days a week for seven hours each day.
We live in a community that cares for others and is willing to lend a hand. We have more than 100 volunteers that assist us with giving out food, and helping in the Thrift Store.
Community and Family Services appreciates all those that give of their time, food and monetary donations.
I want to also thank all of the local churches, industries and businesses that support our cause. Due to our economy we are assisting more families every month. All of you that volunteer are important and we want to express our deep gratitude for what you do.
Without your open hearts we could not accomplish the assistance to our Jay County families.
Thank you,
Don Cole, community service specialist, Community and Family Services Inc.[[In-content Ad]]
