Waiting for reasonable option
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
President Obama, who constantly paraded out the parents of murdered children to push his anti-gun agenda, criticized law abiding gun owners and Republican Senators for politicizing the issue.
The Amended version of S.649 was the first reasonable gun control law proposed since Sandy Hook. Unfortunately five months of lies about guns and the demonization of gun owners, calls to ban adjustable stocks and standard size handgun magazines, a $200 per gun fine on lawfully owned guns, along with criminalizing loaning a friend a gun and allowing federal gun registration created a massive backlash from law abiding gun owners.
The good version of S.649 was not even posted on an official web site for all to read until the day it was voted down because of overwhelming opposition to the terrible background check bill that was posted online.
Perhaps if they really want to pass reasonable gun control they should actually start with reasonable gun control.
