Walgreens drainage plans amended (09/23/2008)
Jay County Drainage Board
The slight bump in drainage plans for a pharmacy under construction in Portland was resolved Monday afternoon.
Amended plans for Walgreens were approved by the Jay County Drainage Board Monday afternoon to solve a slight hitch in the original drawings.
The problems came when work crews discovered the line leading out of the property's detention pond were at the same elevation as the storm line they were trying to connect to.
The building planners quickly whipped up an answer, an inverted siphon system that will wrap around other existing lines and hook into the 30-inch storm drain.
The City of Portland agreed to maintain the two manholes which will be at the location. From time to time, city crews will need to clean out the shafts to make sure that water continues to flow unobstructed through the drains.
In other business Monday afternoon, the commissioners:
•Awarded the bid for new construction assessment to Appraisal Research for the proposed cost of $26,321.34. The company was selected as one of four bidders for the project.
•Set Oct. 20 to open bids for a new dump truck for the highway department.[[In-content Ad]]
