Whitacre memorial ride is June 23
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
The Third Annual Lance Cpl. Andrew F. Whitacre Memorial Ride will be held on Saturday, June 23. The ride is approximately 100 miles and is open to all makes and models of motorcycles. Last year we had Jeeps, trucks and SUVs come along.
All of the money raised goes to the Memorial Fund. This money is used to support and honor our troops, veterans of all ages, and the wounded and fallen. We will continue to do this as long as we can to make sure they are not forgotten. We would appreciate any support for the auction or door prizes. Please contact me and we will arrange for someone to pick it up. If you prefer to make a monetary donation, please make out checks to: Lance Cpl. Andrew F. Whitacre Memorial Fund, and mail it to 7758 E. Ind. 67, Bryant, IN, 47326.
We could also use volunteers to help throughout the day.
Registration will begin at 10 a.m. at Portland Moose Lodge 417, and breakfast will be available. There will be a Blessing of the Bikes and the first bikes will leave at noon.
If you do not ride or cannot make the ride, join us for dinner for just $5. The DJ will begin playing around 4 p.m., and we will begin serving dinner at 4:30 p.m. The auction will begin at 6 p.m. followed by door prizes.
I would like to take this opportunity to send packages to any of your employees or their family members/friends currently serving overseas. Please send their information to the address above.
Thank you for your support and if you would like further information about the fund or event, please feel free to contact me at (260) 729-2575.

To the editor:
The Jay County Humane Society’s tenderloin dinner fundraiser was a huge success. Thank you to all the community members who came and showed their support.
A special thanks to the Humane Society and Lion’s Club members who volunteered their time cooking the meal. Also thank you to Fisher’s Packing who did an outstanding job preparing the rest of the meal.
The Humane Society will use to the money to provide food and shelter to the animals. This is only possible with the support and generosity of the community and the staff the Jay County Humane Society.
There is no other place like Jay County and everyday we are reminded, “It’s a Great Day to be a Patriot!”
Thank you for your continuous support.
