Why must they cook the books?
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
Recently Leonard Pitts published a column on Global Warming in which he slammed Republicans and Boehner for saying “the salient issue is that ‘every proposal that has come out of this administration to deal with climate change involves hurting our economy and killing American jobs,’” which is a true statement.
He also claimed that 97 percent of climate scientists agree that global warming is primarily caused by man, which is a lie. The study polled 10,257 Earth scientists working for universities and government research agencies.
They received responses from 3,146 people of which they decided only 79 who answered correctly qualified as climate scientists. And so the consensus of 97 percent of climate scientists becomes the consensus of 79 cherry picked scientists. That is hardly scientific polling.
The American Meteorological Society conducted a real survey of their members and found that only 52 percent thought that global warming was primarily caused by man.
Pitts says, “Maybe the GOP isn’t good at science, but surely they understand basic math.”
The real math is that in just one year between 2010 and 2011 China increased their CO2 production three times the amount we plan to reduce ours by 2030 with an increase in electric rates of 14 percent or more. I would think the real consensus favors the Republican position on the recent EPA mandate.
If Global Warming is as bad as they claim, why do they have to keep cooking the books?
