Wife of artist invites public (4/24/03)
Editor's mailbag
To the editor:
Portland resident Tony Giltner is a plein air painter. That means he paints outside the Hoosier Impressionists, like T.C. Steele and J. Otis Adams and the French artist, Monet. The difference is, he paints our countryside right here in East Central Indiana. He has also done works in Michigan, Southern Indiana and a few other places.
For example, you’ll see the Salamonie, Wabash and Mississinewa rivers, the Hollow Block, the Loblolly, and beautiful Jay County and Adams County landscapes, as well as lots more. You will recognize these places and be proud of their beauty on canvas because of Tony’s paintings.
His exhibit, Times and Places, as currently showing at Arts Place in Portland. I just wanted to invite you to come to this exhibit. If you’ve never been to Arts Place, don’t be shy. It’s a free exhibit and open through June 12. Arts place is open until 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. You have lots of time. This is for you. I promise you will enjoy what you see.
An open house/reception will be held this Friday from 5-7 p.m. and we would love to see you then. But no pressure; just come sometime and enjoy.
