Wildcats take advantage of Indian errors (04/19/06)

MINSTER, Ohio — Five unearned runs hurt the Fort Recovery baseball team as it slipped to 0-2 in conference play with a 9-4 loss to the Minster Wildcats Tuesday.

The Indians (6-5, 0-2 Midwest Athletic Conference) gave up all nine runs in the third and fourth innings, more than half of which were unearned thanks to three errors. They were held scoreless until posting a single run in the sixth inning and three more in the seventh.

Clint Tobe took the loss, allowing five runs — four earned — on six hits in 22/3 innings. Kevin Schoenherr gave up four runs — all unearned — in 31/3 innings.

Chris Galdeen paced Fort Recovery’s offense with a pair of hits and a run. Bobby Rammel also had a pair of hits, and David Schmitt drove in two runs.

Troy Metzger singled and scored a run, and Tony Diller had a single and an RBI.

Junior varsity

FORT RECOVERY — Minster took control with a six-run second inning and defeated the Indians 12-5.

Alex Gehle came up with a pair of hits, including a double, and scored a run for Fort Recovery.

Matt Braun also had two hits and scored a run.

Braun suffered the pitching defeat.[[In-content Ad]]
