Wildcats whip Fort, 33-0 (09/11/04)

MINSTER, Ohio — Last week, it was crucial mistakes that were costly for Fort Recovery.
On this night, the Indians’ opponent was simply the better team.
Host Minster, racking up more than 430 yards in total offense — including 406 on the ground — and holding Fort Recovery to just 66 yards, rolled to a 33-0 win here Friday night.
The defeat, which drops FRHS to 1-2 on the season, was convincing in almost every category.
The host Wildcats scored a pair of touchdowns in each of the first and second quarters to go up by a 26-0 margin heading into halftime and coasted home from there.
Virtually all of the offensive attack for Minster came via the rush, as the Wildcats ran the ball 56 times for 406 net yards — a 7.5 per carry average.
The Indians, meanwhile, picked up just 26 net yards on 16 attempts — an average of 1.62 yards per carry.
Quarterback Mark Willman connected on 8-of-21 passes for 30 yards and one interception Friday, while Greg Faller was the leading rusher with 14 yards on seven carries.
Minster picked up 23 first downs (21 by rush) to just six for Fort Recovery.
Minster opened the scoring at the 8:43 mark of the first quarter with a 12 yard run from Alex Stricker. Ty Parks scored from 46 yards out at :55 of the first, then added a 13 yard scoring run at 6:02 of the second quarter.
The Wildcats’ Dane Sommer pulled in a 2 yard pass from Parks to make the score 26-0 with just five seconds left to play in the first half.
