Wissel files to challenge Paul (02/09/06)

Richmond City councilman Bruce Wissel has filed as a candidate to seek the Republican nomination in the May primary election for State Senate in District 27.

The district includes the counties of Jay, Randolph and Wayne.

He will be running against long-time incumbent Allen Paul (R-Richmond) who announced last week that he intends to file for the primary election to seek a sixth term in the Senate.

Wissel announced in January, 2005, that he would be seeking the seat and has been campaigning ever since.

In his third term on the Richmond City Council, he currently serves as president.

He has worked in the insurance industry since 1977 and is a field marketing manager for Indiana Farmers Mutual Insurance.

He and his wife, Nancy, have two children.

Also filing Wednesday in the Jay County Clerk’s office for the May primary were:

•Louise Fugiett, 7928 West 600 South, Redkey, Republican Precinct Committeeman, Jefferson Township.

•Judith LeMaster, 516 W. Race St., Portland, Republican Precinct Committeeman, Wayne 1.

•Greg Wilmore, 246 E. Washington St., Dunkirk, Democrat Precinct committeeman, Dunkirk 3.

The deadline to file to run in the primary is Feb. 17.[[In-content Ad]]
