YFC thanks auction supporters
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
Since Youth for Christ now covers five counties, we now host two auctions annually: One in Bluffton for Jay, Adams and Wells counties on March 6, and one in Marion for Blackford and Grant counties on April 10.
I know we say it every year, but this year was the best ever. Combined, we had more than $130,000 worth of donations from many faithful businesses, plus several new ones. Our bidders were generous and the competition was fierce as many items went for their value or higher. This enabled us to raise more than $100,000!
The variety was incredible, we had $48,000 donated in local Christian university scholarships alone.
For Bluffton, we had large items such as 20 tons of gravel, week-long vacations and John Deere riding toys down to small items like a box of fudge, eyebrow waxing and two guinea pigs.
We had very practical items like gas and food gift cards, haircuts and oil changes to some really incredible things like a pheasant hunt, eyelash tinting and four tickets to a "Sweet 16" & "Elite 8" game.
There is a tradition of seeing which school's sweatshirt brings in the most money and this year's honors went to Bluffton with a winning bid of $1,800!
Marion had big-ticket items like a Colt's Super Bowl helmet autographed by Peyton Manning and Joseph Addai, an autographed Butler 2010 team basketball, and others. Original prints and paintings from local artists were a huge hit also.
Our thank-you list is long: donators, bidders, auctioneers, recorder, clerk, and friends and family who pitched in to advertise, model, carry, lift, cook, sell, etc. Thank-you just doesn't seem adequate enough to convey our appreciation for all that you did and continue to do to support us in this ministry. Thank you again and God Bless!!
