Zehringer to seek Ohio house seat (12/19/06)
Fort Recovery resident and Mercer County Commissioner Jim Zehringer plans to seek a seat on the Ohio House of Representatives.
This seat will be vacated by Rep. Keith Faber early next year. Faber has been chosen by state Senate Republicans to fill the Senate seat vacated by Jim Jordan, who was elected to Congress in November.
Zehringer, 54, is about to complete his fourth year as a commissioner and was re-elected to a second four year term.
Applications to fill Faber's seat are being accepted by Ohio House leadership through Jan 5. Candidates will be interviewed by House Republicans, who will then vote on the issue.
This position in the House pays $51,674 a year. Zehringer currently earns $40,000 a year as a commissioner. He also operates a poultry and fish farm in rural Fort Recovery.[[In-content Ad]]
