We, the Portland American Legion Honor Guard, would like to thank everyone for their attendance to the Freedom Park Veterans Day Celebration.
A special thanks to Susan Denney and the eighth grade choir, Pete Vogler and the East Jay Middle School band and speaker, our own honor guard member and Purple Heat recipient Pastor Darryl Borders for his veteran appreciation message.
We were proud to wear our newly-acquired uniforms obtained through a grant from The Portland Foundation.
If you know a veteran without a memorial brick at Freedom Park, you need to rally your family to obtain one. Your only requirement is to be a honorably-served veteran (alive or dearly departed).
Portland American Legion Robert Guy Ayers Post would also like your support through a membership at the local post.
Again, thank you everyone for making this a wonderful Veterans Day Celebration.
