Show love for God and each other

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:
Many of you know what I have been through these past few months.
I want to thank all of you who have prayed for my family and I.
I also want to take this time to publicly apologize to anyone I have hurt or done wrong to in my life. I am sorry.
In May of 2010 I put a guest opinion in the paper. In it, I used someone else’s words without giving them credit for it. I was wrong and I am sorry. I am not a perfect man, just forgiven.
God wants me to tell everyone of you how much He loves you. He loves us so much more than anyone else does. He gave His only begotten son for us. That while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
God’s people need to love Him more than anything or anyone else’s word. We also need to be people of love to others. God loves everyone and that is how He wants us to be.
Galatians 5:22 “But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goddness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.”

Be prepared
To the editor:
The pink of breast cancer awareness month has faded away, but that doesn’t mean we should become complacent about the prevention, detection and treatment of breast cancer … or any other cancer for that matter.
Fortunately, many Hoosiers don’t have to wait for a nationally designated observance month to seek out medical providers offering free or low-cost cancer screenings; they simply need to take advantage of the insurance they already have. Under the Affordable Care Act most insurance plans must now provide free preventative services, exempt from co-pays and deductibles, including mammograms (women over 40), colorectal screenings (over 50), cervical cancer screenings, diet/obesity counseling, HPV immunizations, tobacco cessation and BRCA counseling.
But what about the nearly 800,000 uninsured Hoosiers? Affordable health insurance is within reach for a good portion of them through the Marketplace at http://www.healthcare.gov (many more if/when HIP 2.0 is approved or Medicaid is expanded in Indiana). And there are over 1,000 trained assistors in Indiana ready and willing to help them understand their options and enroll. Open enrollment through the Marketplace takes place through Feb. 15.
None of us can predict when a health crisis, like cancer, will arise. But we can be prepared financially by learning about the health insurance and government assistance options currently available and selecting the one that best fits our individual needs and budgets.
Sincerely,
