Thank you for support, guidance

Letters to the Editor

To the editor:
Achievement is defined as the result gained by effort.
Effort is exactly what ShyAnn Harker has put into her various projects that recently competed at ARBA Nationals.
First, let me explain what the ARBA is. The ARBA is the American Rabbit Breeders Association and it is a national organization dedicated to the promotion, development and improvement of the domestic rabbit and cavy. This organization holds an annual convention where there are not only thousands of rabbits on display, but the youth of the organization participate in various competitions to test their skills and knowledge about rabbits and cavies.
ShyAnn’s homegrown Silver Fox doe, Harker’s Tumbleweed, was entered in three divisions of the national convention’s youth rabbit show. She placed extremely well, earning third in her class, fourth for Silver Fox Fur and first for commercial fur. ShyAnn couldn’t be more proud of her rabbit.
ShyAnn did extremely well competing at nationals in the  education contests, with all but one of her nine projects earning blue ribbons. Her handmade jewelry won her age divisions and received a champion rosette. With her photography, she not only received a champion rosette, but was also the overall national winner. It was a disappointment that she was not able to attend the convention, but she is very thankful for the opportunity to be represented there by her projects.
With the sponsorship of several, the experience of entering and transporting ShyAnn’s rabbit and projects were covered. Thank you so much for your generosity to the following sponsors: Valentine Feed and Supply, FCC Indiana, Lehman Feed Mill, Closet Update, Wall’s Tax Service and the Kiwanis Club of Portland. Thank you again for your generosity and support. It was genuinely appreciated. And because so many were generous, along with support from our family, ShyAnn was able to donate the remaining funds to the Jay County 4-H Rabbit Club.
We would also like to thank Danielle and Justin Lowe for their continued support and encouragement. Without the suggestion from Danielle to send the Silver Fox to nationals, it never would have been considered. Without your guidance, ShyAnn would not be where she is today.
Thank you to everyone once again for supporting the youth of Jay County in their efforts to expand their horizons and achieve their dreams.
Sincerely,
Keri and Ch
