MUNCIE — The Jay County High School girls cross country team and four members of the boys squad earned regional berths today.
The Patriot girls, who had won eight straight sectional titles, finished fifth in today's race at Muncie SportsPlex. Juniors Kellie Fortkamp and Megan Wellman led the effort, finishing in sixth and ninth respectively.
The boys narrowly missed a regional berth as a team, finishing in sixth place. Tanner Craw, Michael Denney, Travis Barton and Alex LeMaster advanced as individuals.
The top five squads and top 10 runners not on qualifying teams advance to the regional.
