Thanks for race support
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
The 2014 Hudson Family Park Half Races included a 5k Fun Run, Half Marathon and the Super Hero Hustle Kids Mile.
The weather didn’t cooperate but we had a great turnout and masses of positive feedback. This year’s half featured elite runners Justin Gillette, fifth in the world marathon wins, and Melissa Gillette, indoor marathon record holder.
Fresh off a Grand Lakes Marathon win, Justin Gillette was able to win the Hudson Family Park Half Marathon at near-record pace.
The big story of the day was amateur runner Gwenaelle Beague winning the women’s overall half marathon at a record-breaking pace. Gwenaelle broke the previous record by an astonishing 11 minutes with an official time of 1:22:42.3.
Thank you to all of our event sponsors, the Barry and Elizabeth Hudson family and the First Bank of Berne.
Our T-shirt sponsors were Citizens State Bank, Jay County Hospital, Kyle Cook, Tarter Realty and Coca-Cola. I would like to also thank the Jay County Trails Club for helping organize the race, taking pictures and volunteering.
Thank you for your support of the Jay Community Center allowing JCC to strengthen the health and social interaction of our community’s families through sports, recreation and fitness.
