John Burns

John S. Burns, 87, Gosport, died Friday at Greenwood Village South-The Manor.
He was the son of J.K. and Julia Burns and graduated from Gosport High School in 1944.
Preceding him in death in 1997 was his wife June Everly Burns whom he married in 1947.
A veteran of the United States Navy, he retired as a pilot for Indiana University Foundation.
Surviving are six children, including Jill Douglass (husband: Earl), Portland; and seven grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Chandler Funeral Home-Whitaker Chapel in Gosport. Burial will follow in Gosport Cemetery.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Burns Family Fund, Owen County Community Foundation, P.O. Box 503, Spencer, IN 47460.
