SA freshman takes first at Greenville


GREENVILLE, Ohio — South Adams freshman Olivia Von Gunten was the overall winner Saturday at the Greenville Invitational.
Her time of 20 minutes led the Starfire girls cross country team to a score of 109 and a third-place finish in the 17-team meet.
The South Adams boys also placed third.
Fort Recovery’s girls placed 12th, and the Tribe boys were 13th.
South Adams had its No. 2 and 3 runners finish back-to-back as well as its No. 4 and 5 runners.
Aleesha Goodwin and Kara Seffernick were 17th and 18th respectively, and Katelin Hawbaker and Hadi Hawbaker finished 36th and 37th.
Fort Recovery’s Grace Gehle crossed the finish line in 29th, with Caitlyn Huelskamp (40th), Chelsea Timmerman (67th), Paige McCain (70th) and Sydney Alig (72nd) rounding out the team score.
In the boys’ race, Bailey McIntire and Sawyer Miller of South Adams placed fourth and sixth respectively. Wyatt Miller (14th), David Steffen (26th) and Briar Goodwin (33rd) also scored for South Adams.
Travis Sutter crossed the finish line in 15th to lead the Tribe boys. Issac Siegrist (31st), Sam Huelskamp (92nd), Harrison Kaup (101st) and Rodney Hemmert (110th) rounded out the Indians’ team score.
