Shimp leads WJMS spikers
Volleyball roundup
MUNCIE — Rhegan Shimp had four kills and as many aces Tuesday as the West Jay Middle School eighth grade spikers beat Muncie Northside, 25-15, 25-21.
Randi Ferguson, who had seven service points, tallied two kills and two aces, and Kameron Edwards had two aces.
Shimp had a team-high 10 service points, and Gracie Miller had five.
The WJMS sixth and seventh grade teams lost to Northside.
Allison Jobe had eight service points for the Eagle eighth graders, which lost 24-25, 25-18, 15-7. Halle Hill and Calli Stigleman each tallied four service points, while Stigleman had three aces.
Grace Morgan had two service points in the WJMS sixth graders’ 25-1, 25-10 loss to Northside.
Chiefs top Warriors
WOODBURN — Hanna Dillon had three kills as the EJMS eighth grade volleyball team beat Woodlan on Tuesday, 25-19, 25-13.
The EJMS seventh graders lost to the Warriors, 25-24, 24-25, 15-7.
Sarah Walter had two kills and a block to go with her pair of aces to lead the eighth graders. Olivia Kunkler, Hannah Phillips and Gwen Omstead each had one kill.
Phillips and Pryor each had eight service points, and Pryor added six aces. Kailee Denney had four assists and three aces, and two of Kunkler’s three service points were aces.
Macey Weitzel led the seventh graders with three kills. Britney Mullins had six points, all of which were aces, and Logan Poore had four aces and two kills.
FRMS spikers win
MARIA STEIN, Ohio — Brooke Kahlig had 11 service points and Paige Jutte tallied 10 as the Fort Recovery seventh grade spikers beat the host Marion Local Flyers 25-12, 25-21.
The eighth grade Indians lost to the Flyers, 25-13, 25-22.
Olivia Patch had six kills for the Tribe seventh graders, and Val Muhlenkamp recorded nine points from the service line. Chloe Showalter and Kahlig each had three kills.
For the FRMS eighth graders, Madison Rammel had seven kills and six digs. Faith Kahlig had seven assists and five digs, and Brooke Gaerke tallied four kills.
