Library is loaded with activities

Jay County Public Library, 315 N. Ship St. in Portland, has several activities coming up this fall.
Readers are invited to register for the “Fall in Love with Books” program, which will run through Nov. 15, to rate books after they are read or listened to.
Registration forms are available at the library and participation packets include book review tickets, a calendar of events and a list of favorite books chosen by staff members.
•The Cookbook Club will return at 6:15 p.m. Monday with the theme “Any Dish You Wish Potluck.”
•Author Mike Lackey will visit the library at 6 p.m. Tuesday to talk about his book “Spitballing: the Baseball Days of Long Bob Ewing” a story about the pitcher and his famous spitball.
•Story times, for preschool age children, are held at 11:30 a.m. each Wednesday in September.
•Mother Goose & Me will be at 10 a.m. on Sept. 12, 19 and 26.
•The Lego Club is held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. each Tuesday in September. Children seven and younger should be accompanied by a caregiver.
•An after school special, for kindergarten through fifth grade students, will be held from 2:45 to 4 p.m. on Sept. 12. There will be snacks, a book read and crafts to make. To register, call the library at (260) 726-7890.
•The JayCPL Book Club will discuss the book “Life after Life” by Kate Atkinson at 7 p.m. Sept. 15.
•Friends meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 16.
