Possession sentence
An Albany woman was recently sentenced in Jay Superior Court.
Lindsay Wesley, 27, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony, and was sentenced Aug. 29 to 18 months in Jay County Jail with all but 30 days suspended. As part of a plea agreement, a count of driving while suspended was dismissed. She was given four days credit for two days served and will serve the remaining 26 days of her sentence on electronically monitored home detention. She was fined $1 and assessed court costs of $168. She was ordered to pay a drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee of $200 and placed on formal probation for 17 months.
Confinement sentence
A Portland man was recently sentenced in Jay Superior Court.
Brandon Denney, 29, pleaded guilty to criminal confinement, a Class D felony, and was sentenced Aug. 28 to three years in Jay County Jail with all but two days suspended. As part of a plea agreement, a count of domestic battery and a count of interference with reporting a crime were dismissed. He was given two days credit for one day served and assessed court costs of $168. He was placed on formal probation for three years.
The sentence put him in violation of his probation in a May 2013 case of domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor. He was sentenced to an additional 10 months of the original one year sentence imposed and was given credit for time already served. He began serving the sentence Aug. 28 in Jay County Jail.
Guilty plea
A Portland man pleaded guilty recently in Jay Circuit Court.
Aaron Baker, 42, pleaded guilty to dealing in a schedule II controlled substance, a Class B felony, after allegedly delivering oxymorphone to Country Place Apartments II and Hoosier Inn in October 2012. As part of a plea agreement, a count of dealing in a schedule II controlled substance, a Class A felony, was dismissed.
A sentencing hearing is set for 2 p.m. Oct. 1.
Trial set
A Dunkirk man recently had his trial scheduled in Jay Circuit Court.
Tyler Sewell, 30, is charged with burglary, a Class B felony, two counts of theft, both Class D felonies, and driving while suspended, a Class A misdemeanor. The charges stem from an April incident when he allegedly broke into the home of Kenneth Hodgson, 6224 N. 250 West, Bryant, and allegedly stole jewelry, coins, antiques, tools and women’s purses. He also allegedly stole aluminum siding from another individual, Larry Johnson, and allegedly operated a vehicle while his driving privileges were suspended or revoked.
His two-day jury trial is set to begin 8:30 a.m. Oct. 16.

Theodore Davis II, 37, pleaded guilty to child molesting, a Class A felony, after allegedly having sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl in October. As part of a plea agreement, two counts of child molesting were dismissed.
A sentencing hearing has been set for 2 p.m. Oct. 2.
