Larry Gilbert

Larry L. Gilbert, 76, Redkey, died Tuesday at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
Born in Redkey to James H. and Mary E. Gilbert, he was a 1957 Redkey High School graduate and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He served on Redkey Town Council during the 1970s and had worked at the Redkey bowling alley, Indiana Glass in Dunkirk and retired from General Motors in Muncie in 1999. He was a member of Redkey American Legion and Avondale Sympathy Club.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Kay Gilbert; two children, Tracy Gilbert and Trenda Oakley (husband: Wayne), both of Redkey; a brother, Terry Gilbert, Muncie; three sisters, Mary Johnson, Berne, Barbara Stapleton (husband: Bryant), Muncie, and Carolyn Armstrong (husband: Delmar), Dunkirk; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Redkey, with military honors.
