New store
A Marshalls store is coming to Celina, Ohio, in the spring of 2015.
RG Properties applied for a zoning permit Aug. 28 to build the 21,000 square foot store in Harbor Square on Havemann Road, at a projected cost of $2.1 million.
The store sells clothing, footwear, accessories and home décor at discount prices.
“We’re very pleased Marshalls will be coming. We think it will be a great addition,” Celina mayor Jeff Hazel said.
The Celina City Schools Board of Education members approved a 12-year, 100 percent tax abatement for the project in March, but RG Properties must continue to pay taxes on the land.

Kicks habit
CVS Caremark will be stopping the sale of tobacco by Oct. 1 as part of its focus on health and will change its name to CVS Health.
The signs at the drugstores won’t change, but customers will notice the difference behind the counter as cigarettes and cigars are replaced with nicotine gum and signs urging customers to kick the tobacco habit.
CVS has 7,700 stores, including one in Dunkirk and Portland.

Raises bid
Dollar General has raised its bid to $9.1 billion or $80 per share for rival Family Dollar. The previous bid was $78.50 per share.
Family Dollar rejected the lower bid before in favor of an $8.5 billion offer from Dollar Tree, but said it would review the latest one.
Family Dollar said its board still supports the deal with Dollar Tree and won’t comment further on Dollar General’s revised offer until the board has completed its review.
Family Dollar has a store in Portland and Dunkirk, and Dollar General has a store in Portland, Ridgeville and Geneva.

Moving quickly
Just a week after Tyson Foods completed its merger with Hillshire Brands, the process of combining the companies is moving rapidly.
“We are moving forward quickly with the integration and finding synergies,” Tyson president and chief executive officer Donnie Smith told investors at the annual Barclays Back-to-School Consumer Conference in Boston.
“We feel good about our ability to capture $225 million in synergies in the first years and $500 million by year three. The more we get into it, the better we feel,” Smith said in a prepared statement.
Smith told the conference he wants to keep the spark that led to success at Hillshire in the area of brand-building, marketing and innovation.
