Intersection collision
A Portland woman and man were involved in an accident Monday in Portland.
Mariana Gutierrez, 20, 119 E. Elder St., told police she was traveling east on Snipe Alley, attempting to pull onto Meridian Street, when the 1999 Nissan Altima she was driving struck a 1988 Longlife mail truck southbound on Meridian Street.
Gutierrez said a semi driver who was stopped on High Street signaled to her she could proceed.
William Rathbun, 63, 111 S. 200 West, was driving the mail truck, which is registered to United States Postal Service, 119 N. Meridian St., Portland.
Damage in the 12:49 p.m. accident was estimated to be less than $1,000.
Parking lot mishap
A Portland man was involved in an accident Monday morning in the Jay Community Center parking lot, 115 E. Water St., Portland.
Richard Shelton, 58, 1002 W. Water St., was traveling west through the East Jay Middle School parking lot, 225 E. Water St., when he lost control of the 1991 Ford Explorer he was driving and it struck a 1996 Chevrolet Conventional Cab parked in the Jay Community Center parking lot.
Shelton said he blacked out and doesn’t remember anything about the accident.
The 1996 Chevrolet is registered to David Ryder, 1369 W. 650 South, Portland.
The Ford Explorer is registered to Staci Shelton, 962 S. Shank St., Portland.
Shelton was treated for minor bleeding on his face at the scene of the accident.
A portable breath test was also administered and showed Shelton had no alcohol in his system at the time of the crash.
Damage in the 7:51 a.m. accident was estimated to be between $1,000 and $2,500.
In area court
Two Fort Recovery residents were assessed fines recently.
Christopher E. Duhmmel, 47, 206 Link Road, was fined $100 for speeding.
Luke J. Bihn, 24, 1319 Fort Recovery-Minster Road, was fined $200 for fictitious plates and driving on a closed highway.
A Geneva man was recently charged with driving while suspended.
Daniel Navarrete-Becerril, 58, E. Butcher St., was charged with speeding 58 mph in a 45 mph zone, failure to signal a lane change and driving while suspended. He was arrested by Decatur Police, and his bond was set at $200 cash and $2,500 surety.
